Es de conocimiento público
y se puede corroborar con base en la evidencia
disponible emitida por
fuentes confiables, algunas de ellas académicas, que Israel continúa en
violación flagrante del derecho internacional y de cualquier ética básica para
la convivencia pacífica entre los pueblos con los crímenes de genocidio, apartheid, ocupación colonial e ilegal
de tierras y encarcelamiento masivo. Esta guerra de exterminio es insostenible
sin la complicidad de los aliados de Israel.
Frente a ella, la emancipación de Palestina continúa
reafirmándose de la mano
de los pueblos del mundo en busca de una justicia internacional genuina.
Una de las empresas que más ganancias ha obtenido del
sufrimiento del pueblo palestino es Elbit Systems, la cual aprovisiona con el 80% de armas y equipo
al ejército israelí
y el 85% de drones
de combate a su
fuerza aérea, además de tecnología de punta utilizada para la
vigilancia y control de masas, una parte de la cual es utilizada en los muros que convirtieron
a Gaza en una cárcel
al aire libre y en el sistema
de apartheid en Cisjordania. Esta empresa logró posicionarse como una de las
organizaciones trasnacionales más lucrativas y con mayor impunidad en el mundo,
en gran medida gracias a su participación en el muro racista que separa a Estados Unidos de México
y del sur global y gracias a la histórica
colaboración de Israel con la política contrainsurgente, llevada a cabo por gobiernos
y estados autoritarios a través de tratados de libre comercio
que no garantizan la legalidad
y la responsabilidad ética de empresas
como ésta.
En Académicxs con Palestina contra el genocidio hemos
documentado la represión y violación de derechos
humanos ejercida en contra de integrantes del movimiento internacional de solidaridad con
Palestina que el Estado de Israel ha conseguido exportar a distintas partes del
mundo, particularmente a Europa y Estados Unidos.
Condenamos que un gobierno laborista, que se dice
diferente al conservador, decida censurar, reprimir, criminalizar, perseguir y
encarcelar de manera sistemática con el fin de doblegar al movimiento de
solidaridad con Palestina en el Reino Unido, sentando así un precedente aplicable en otros países de Europa
y Norteamérica. Y lo hace en el contexto de una
crisis múltiple en la cual la extrema derecha está ganando terreno,
Nos preocupa enormemente la integridad física y mental de Amu Gib, Qesser Zurah, Heba Muraisi, Jon Cink, T Hoxha, Kamran Ahmed, Lewie Chiaramellow y Umer Khalid, ocho activistas encarcelados injustamente por realizar acciones en contra de Elbit Systems en suelo británico y por oponerse a la colaboración de las fuerzas armadas británicas con Israel. Estos activistas se encuentran en huelga de hambre desde hace varias semanas y algunos corren el riesgo de morir. Sus representantes legales han denunciado graves omisiones en el caso y la violación a sus derechos durante el encarcelamiento.
Es inadmisible que frente al terrorismo de Estado que
comete Israel y que enriquece a Elbit Systems y a otras empresas semejantes, sea hacia Palestine
Action, una organización afuera de Israel que se opone al genocidio y a la industria
armamentista, la acusación de terrorismo. Las
familias y los abogados de las víctimas
han exigido reunirse
con el actual ministro de justicia,
David Lammy, y su intervención, pero él ha hecho caso omiso. Intuimos
que la intención detrás del maltrato que estas ocho personas inocentes han recibido es la de demostrar
la mano dura que será utilizada no sólo en contra del movimiento de solidaridad con Palestina, sino también
de cualquier otra de las expresiones de descontento cada vez más recurrentes en
el Reino Unido. En este sentido, la instrumentalización de la prisión
para generar miedo
en la población no es disímil de la de Israel, que mantiene
ilegalmente encarcelados a alrededor de diez miles de palestinos.
En consecuencia, hacemos un llamado al movimiento de
solidaridad con Palestina en México a conocer
el caso de estos ocho encarcelados y de Palestine
Action. Tras su salida de la
Unión Europea, el Reino Unido firmó un acuerdo con México, que obliga a ambas
naciones a garantizar el respeto
a la protesta y a los derechos humanos
y a fortalecer el cumplimiento del derecho internacional. En vista de que el encarcelamiento de
estos ocho activistas es una afronta en contra
del movimiento internacional con Palestina, hacemos
sus exigencias nuestras.
Exigimos:
1. Que el gobierno británico permita que nuestros ocho compañeros puedan comunicarse sin restricciones y sin vigilancia ni interferencias por parte de la administración penitenciaria y el respeto a la libertad de expresión como derecho humano.
2. Que se les permita la libertad bajo fianza en espera de un juicio, especialmente cuando algunos de ellos llevan más de dos años de cárcel preventiva.
3. El respeto al derecho a un juicio justo e imparcial, que incluye el derecho a prepararse para sostenerlo en libertad y la publicación de todos los documentos relevantes relacionados con el caso, incluyendo las reuniones entre funcionarios estatales británicos, israelíes, la policía británica, el fiscal general y representantes de Elbit Systems. Publicar los registros británicos de las exportaciones de Elbit Systems en el Reino Unido es un gesto mínimo hacia el pueblo palestino y otras poblaciones afectadas en el mundo, que fortalece el respeto internacional a los derechos humanos.
4. El retiro de los cargos de terrorismo. Como hemos dicho anteriormente, la así llamada guerra contra el terrorismo no es otra cosa sino un instrumento de conquista, al igual que la supuesta guerra contra el narcotráfico y México es hoy en día una víctima de esta política comandada principalmente por los Estados Unidos.
Elbit Systems es una empresa criminal transnacional que lucra con el genocidio. Hacemos un llamado a sumar esfuerzos para expulsarla de ambas naciones. Lucrar con el genocidio es universal e inequívocamente un crimen.
¿Acaso no dijo el fundador del partido laborista Keir Hardie que “el socialismo con su promesa de libertad, que es la más grande esperanza para la humanidad y un triunfo de la paz sobre la guerra, la unión de todos los pueblos de la Tierra en una sola hermandad, es lo que debe prevalecer” y recordó además la necesidad de rebelarse ante un sistema injusto? Los ocho encarcelados no hacen otra cosa que luchar para que comer el pan sea siempre un acto de dignidad, no sólo el suyo, sino también el de Palestina y el de la humanidad.
Que esta misiva sea un mensaje de solidaridad para nuestr@s herman@s injustamente encarcelad@s en el Reino Unido y especialmente para el pueblo palestino, así como un llamado a las embajadas a no dejar pasar este asunto de humanidad básica.

It is publicly known and can be corroborated based on available evidence issued by reliable sources, some of them academic, that Israel continues to be in flagrant violation of international law and of any basic ethics for peaceful coexistence among nations through the crimes of genocide, apartheid, colonial and illegal occupation of land, and mass imprisonment. This war of extermination is unsustainable without the complicity of Israel's allies. In the face of it, the emancipation of Palestine continues to be reaffirmed, hand in hand with the peoples of the world, in the pursuit of genuine international justice.
One of the companies that has profited the most from the suffering of the Palestinian people is Elbit Systems, which supplies 80% of the weapons and equipment to the Israeli army and 85% of combat drones to its air force, in addition to cutting-edge technology used for surveillance and mass control, part of which is used in the walls that turned Gaza into an open-air prison and in the apartheid system in the West Bank. This company has managed to position itself as one of the most lucrative transnational organisations with the greatest impunity in the world, largely thanks to its involvement in the racist wall separating the United States from Mexico and the Global South, and thanks to Israel's historic collaboration with counterinsurgency policy, carried out by authoritarian governments and states through free trade agreements that do not guarantee the legality and ethical responsibility of companies like this one.
In Académicxs con Palestina contra el genocidio (Academics for Palestine Against Genocide), we have documented the repression and violation of human rights exercised against members of the international solidarity movement for Palestine, which the State of Israel has managed to export to different parts of the world, particularly to Europe and the United States.
We condemn that a Labour government, which claims to be different from the Conservative one, decides to systematically censor, repress, criminalise, persecute, and imprison with the aim of crushing the Palestine solidarity movement in the United Kingdom, thus setting a precedent applicable in other countries in Europe and North America. And it does so in the context of a multiple crisis in which the far right is gaining ground.
We are deeply concerned about the physical and mental integrity of Amu Gib, Qesser Zurah, Heba Muraisi, Jon Cink, T Hoxha, Kamran Ahmed, Lewie Chiaramellow and Umer Khalid, eight activists unjustly imprisoned for taking action against Elbit Systems on British soil and for opposing the collaboration of the British armed forces with Israel. These activists have been on hunger strike for several weeks and some are at risk of death. Their legal representatives have denounced serious omissions in the case and violations of their rights during imprisonment.
It is unacceptable that in the face of the state terrorism committed by Israel, which enriches Elbit Systems and other similar companies, it is Palestine Action, an organisation outside Israel that opposes genocide and the arms industry, that is accused of terrorism. The families and lawyers of the victims have demanded to meet with the current Justice Secretary, David Lammy, and for his intervention, but he has ignored them. We sense that the intention behind the mistreatment these eight innocent people have received is to demonstrate the heavy hand that will be used not only against the Palestine solidarity movement, but also against any other expressions of discontent increasingly recurring in the United Kingdom. In this sense, the instrumentalisation of prison to generate fear in the population is not dissimilar to that of Israel, which illegally imprisons around ten thousand Palestinians.
Consequently, we call on the Palestine solidarity movement in Mexico to learn about the case of these eight prisoners and of Palestine Action. Following its departure from the European Union, the United Kingdom signed an agreement with Mexico, which obliges both nations to guarantee respect for protest and human rights and to strengthen compliance with international law. Given that the imprisonment of these eight activists is an affront against the international movement for Palestine, we make their demands our own.
1. That the British government allows our eight comrades to communicate without restrictions and without surveillance or interference from the prison administration, and respect for freedom of expression as a human right.
2. That they be granted bail pending trial, especially as some of them have been in pre- trial detention for over two years.
3. Respect for the right to a fair and impartial trial, which includes the right to prepare for it in freedom and the publication of all relevant documents related to the case, including meetings between British and Israeli state officials, the British police, the Attorney General, and representatives of Elbit Systems. Publishing British records of Elbit Systems exports from the United Kingdom is a minimal gesture towards the Palestinian people and other affected populations in the world, which strengthens international respect for human rights.
4. The withdrawal of the terrorism charges. As we have stated before, the so-called war on terrorism is nothing more than an instrument of conquest, just like the supposed war on drugs, and Mexico is today a victim of this policy commanded mainly by the United States.
Elbit Systems is a criminal transnational company that profits from genocide. We call for efforts to be joined to expel it from both nations. Profiting from genocide is universally and unequivocally a crime.
Did not Keir Hardie, the founder of the Labour Party, say that "socialism with its promise of freedom, which is the greatest hope for humanity and a triumph of peace over war, the union of all the peoples of the Earth in a single brotherhood, is what must prevail" and also recalled the need to rebel against an unjust system? The eight prisoners are doing nothing but fighting so that eating bread may always be an act of dignity, not only their own, but also that of Palestine and of humanity.
May this missive be a message of solidarity for our unjustly imprisoned brothers and sisters in the United Kingdom and especially for the Palestinian people, as well as a call to the embassies not to let this matter of basic humanity pass.
